Style Guide and Millinery Trends
After what seemed like an endless winter, it’s finally time to push your warm woolies to the back of the wardrobe and get ready to frock up for this year’s spring racing carnival.
When it comes to trackside attire, it’s out with the drab and in with the fab in 2022; fashion and millinery trends are all about adding bold pops of statement colours this year, whether your go-to look is classic cut or contemporary. Add a pop of colour with your outfit and accessories, go all bold colour or tone it down with neural accessories
From 1950s pillbox and wide brim hats to show stopping, jaw dropping millinery pieces and sophisticated, sleek streetwear styles, fashion enthusiasts will have fun creating new and unique looks that reflect their distinct personalities.
As well as splashes of hot pinks, greens, yellows and blues, incorporating clashing colours will also be a stand out trend this year, bucking preconceived notions of what works and what doesn’t.
In addition to colour, we’re also likely to see more feathers featuring trackside, particularly soft floating plumage, which works to add a little drama, lightness and movement to the finished look.
Which hat and fascinator styles are trending this year?
- Brims: sometimes you can’t go past the classics - fedoras, boater styles, percher hats and platters worn at a variety of angles work beautifully with tailored, contemporary and femine silhouettes
- Berets and small hats: bigger isn’t necessarily better - more petite styles are perfect if you are at a seated function or tend to feel overwhelmed or burdened by broader brims. With a great variety that can be worn slanted or centrally, teardrop shapes are still a favourite
- Crowns and wider headbands: with this look becoming more popular across all age groups, headpieces will be more substantial this year. For example, blocked headbands or halos with sculptured bows, delicate veils and streamlined trims will have their time to shine
- The interchangeable range allows you to express your personality by swapping out the hat base and trims to match your outfit. where style meets sustainability
Trims: this year, it’s all about the bow and the emergence of the feathered pieces.
